Harbours of Hong Kong : must see places in 2 and half days 3 nights

Day 1 Arrival.

Route from Dubai to Hong Kong is smooth and clear from turbulence, I just wish it would be the same with Dubai-Manila flight. It's February 2014 and the weather is chilling, you need bonnets, warmers and jackets to survive the outside winds and chills.

Immigration is flex here, visa is given upon arrival, with Philippine passport you can stay here for up to 14 days HK visa for Philippine passports  We intend to stay for 4 days only (including the flights) so that would be 3 nights and 2 and half days only.

In the terminal, you can buy local HK sim and MRT/ bus card (same as NOL card here in Dubai).   This was 3 years ago so, I really can't remember how much it cost.

Photo with the taxi. Not too much drivers can understand and speak basic English, so this might be a problem. Luckily, this guy can do some conversation with us, he can speak English. Just ask the driver if he can speak a little English, if not, go to the next one.

We stayed at Cosmo Hotel Wan Chai, at according to our Tita who is working in HK for 22 years, it is a perfect spot to stay due to proximity to all the places we want to see while here in HK. I did the booking via Booking.com I originally booked for us 2, but our friend came along our travel so that's 3 of us who checked-in, luckily they just let it go and not too much fuss about additional 1 person. πŸ˜‰

Travelling is tasting their local foods. Yum yum. streetfoods. πŸ˜‹This sums up our arrival day in HK.
I πŸ’—Durian. Though it is expensive here in HK compare to Singapore.

DAY 2 - HONGKONG DISNEYLAND

Time to roam around the city + disneyland experience with Tita Beth - our tour guide. Yey!

Bida ang sarap sa HongKong! @ Central metro station. There is also a BDO atm near this place, you can withdraw HKD money anytime from your local BDO account.

Local foods πŸ˜ƒ trying their hot pot. mas mura kaysa sa dubai.. this is worth 100 HKD, approx. 500 pesos only. :) Everywhere I go, I make sure there is at least one local food that I should try. Sometimes, I am lucky to watch how it is cooked, like the famous Hokkien Mee of Singapore. It's my husband's fave and I cook it by his request (wife's duties huh). will post the link later.

Train connecting to Disneyland

Mandatory photo with Mickey.

It's the happiest place on Earth, everyone are child at heart.
There is too much to see in Disneyland and too much rides, you must be here before opening (opens at 10AM) so you can maximise.

The most awaited part is the wonderful fireworks display. You will feel the tagline " Happiest place on Earth." Fireworks lasts for 30 minutes, but this video is just the final part.

DAY 3 - MACAU visit.
Will post most of this part in a separate blog. Macau is small place, full of casinos. Macau is just a ferry away from HongKong, also with visa upon arrival. Check out the places to see in my blog, will post it later here :

Not much to see in Macau for free so we got back to HK early and spend the rest of the nights in their Street market, somewhere near Town Central. It is like a Divisoria, and you can find cheap cellphone accessories.

DAY 4 - THE PEAK

It's our last day and our flight is later at 4pm.. so imagine the time we have to compress all the activities to be done. The Peak is just a bus away, going back to Cosmo Hotel we tried the tram going down the hill literally leaning at an angle of more than 45 degrees! Bit scary at first, but it's a thriller you should try. :)

We only had 2 and half days and 2 nights to explore HK and Macau combined, so there are still so much left to explore. We haven't seen the HK Ocean Park, the location of the Buddha temples, the Walk of Fame, cable car and more local stuffs like food, their remote places etc. Perhaps 5-7 days is enough to explore all the beautiful places that HK and Macau has to offer.

A LOT OF FILIPINOS ARE WORKING IN HONG KONG, WHAT ARE THE BEAUTIFUL PLACES THAT WE MISSED IN THIS TRIP? PLEASE COMMENT BELOW FOR US TO PUT IN THE CHECKLIST NEXT TIME WE VISIT AGAIN.

Till next time Hong Kong and Macau. πŸ’ŸπŸ’•- Lei
